The White House is a public space for art and social activity on the Becontree Estate in Dagenham, developed by Create London. As Chief Curator at Create London from 2013 to 2016, I led the development of the curatorial approach for the space, establishing a model that brought together a residential programme for visiting artists with a public programme led by and for local residents. Inaugural commissions included new works by Ève Chabanon, Patrick Goddard, and Chad McCail.

The project set out to address social, political, and culturally relevant issues in Dagenham, with artists invited to live and work in the house. The White House continues to grow as a social space used by local residents and artists.
